On-site and Private Group Training Course Policies

On-site courses are dedicated courses delivered by an instructor at your laboratory. See the COVID-19 On-site Terms and Conditions below if you are requesting an on-site course.

Private group courses are dedicated courses delivered virtually by an instructor (i.e. no travel is required)

Quotes are provided to customers requesting an on-site or private group course. Course dates are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

On-site Instructor Travel Policy

The actual cost of instructor travel is charged following the on-site training course. Instructor travel costs are charged according to Q19 - CALA Travel Policy.

A deposit against the travel costs may be charged ahead of the training course.

Course cancellations due to COVID

On-site courses will be cancelled or rescheduled if there is a public health advisory restricting travel in the vicinity of the training location, or instructor’s home location, or prohibiting gatherings. Courses will also be cancelled or rescheduled if there are recent cases of COVID-19 at the facility. Any travel cancellation costs will be charged to the client. To reduce the risk of additional costs due to COVID issues, including exposure and quarantine, travel insurance will be included in the travel costs.

The client has the option of changing on-site courses to virtual courses should there be any concerns related to an increase in COVID-19 cases, or possible exposure.

Training Cancellation Policy

If the customer cancels a course within 20 business days of the scheduled start date, customer will be charged 25 percent of the base course fee. If cancellation occurs within 10 business days of the start date, the customer will be charged 50 percent of the base course fee. Additional charges may apply if course customization was requested by the customer.

On-site Training Rescheduling Policy

If the customer requests that an on-site course is rescheduled, administrative charges for changes to travel will be charged. Additional charges may apply if other expenses were incurred due to the change in date. (e.g. equipment or room rental)

Student Count Billing Policy

CALA will charge the full attendee fee based upon the number of students confirmed by the customer on the registration list no less than ten (10) business days prior to the class start date. This confirmed count will be the minimum student count for invoice purposes. Customers must ensure this number accurately reflects the number of students planned to attend. This number may not be reduced. In addition, the customer will be invoiced for any students exceeding this amount. (For example, if a customer confirms 10 students before the class and only 8 attend, the customer will not be reimbursed. If a customer confirms 10 students but 12 attend, the customer will be invoiced for the extra 2 students.)

Roster additions may be requested less than 10 business days before the scheduled delivery date and will be accommodated whenever possible. Student substitutions may be made right up to the start of the course.

Minimum number of registrants: A minimum fee equivalent to 5 confirmed registrations is charged, even if the customer registration list falls below 5 participants.

Maximum number of registrants: Unless otherwise agreed, the maximum number of participants per course is 16.

These minimum and maximum numbers are to ensure the best possible course experience.
