Listening is one of the most important skills you can have. Listening affects job performance and your relationships with others. Despite being a critical skill, many people do not listen well. Other things in the environment such as other conversations, cell phones, and computer screens distract them, or they are distracted by their busy schedule, or even their own thoughts.
Active listening is about building a skill set to become a better listener. By learning these skills you will become a better listener, and actually hear what the other person is saying. You will learn how to build rapport, understanding and trust.
